Following Your Purpose – 1 of Many Key Leadership Traitsback
The Huffington Post reports that there are more than 27,000 leadership books on Amazon.com, not to mention the countless seminars, articles and workshops, and then they offer one more – Psychologist Carolyn Gergoire says there are “7 habits of natural leaders.” While I’m not sure there are just seven, I do particularly like #2 on her list: “They follow their purpose.”
Steve Jobs is frequently held up as a leader who had a very clear and focused sense of purpose, but don’t assume that everyone is just born with – or wakes up one day with – a clear sense of purpose. Nor do you have to visit a private island to find it (or yourself). But purpose requires clarity, and in our over scheduled, under resourced world, clarity takes work, and often a team approach.
